Coupon Myths: Part 1

I am starting a series on the most widely believed coupon myths. Each week, I'll focus on one common coupon myth & show why I believe it is false.

Even after showing many of my friends & family my success with bargain shopping, they are often still skeptical. Hopefully, pointing out this series will help win over at least a few unbelievers.

Coupon Myth #1:

"There are only coupons for unhealthy, processed, junk food"

If you are new to the frugal world, you might be under the impression that those who coupon eat a diet that consists only of cereal, pasta, packaged dinners & candy. Although there are an abundance of coupons for those types of items, there are also plenty of coupons for healthier, less processed food.

I'll be honest: I love cereal. But when coupon critics use the abundance in cereal coupons as a way to support this myth, I get a little bit confused.  Have they perused the cereal aisle lately? There are almost more natural, healthy & organic cereal options than not! Special K, Kashi, Multigrain Cheerios, Cascade Farms, etc...the list goes on & on.

There are more than enough coupons available for healthy foods.  For example, free yogurt is almost always available, frozen vegetables are easy to find, bagged salads, dried fruits, nuts and sometimes even meat & fresh produce! It may require a little bit of extra research to find the appropriate coupons, but I promise, they are out there!

Here are a few places I go to find coupons for the healthier items:
There are many other places you can visit to find great natural & organic coupons & deals.  I will begin posting a few natural & organic deals each week on the blog.

So yes, there are plenty of coupons for the pastas, the packaged dinners, the frozen food, etc. But, hopefully now you can see that there are a plethora of coupons & deals available for those looking to eat a more well balanced, healthy diet!
