I have known since before our daughter arrived that she would be a 'Daddy's girl'. I just knew it...I find it adorable, though. I love hearing my husband talking sweetly to her over the baby monitor, catch them cuddling on the couch when I get home & see the way his eyes (and her's!) light up when he walks through the door...being a daddy's girl is a good thing to be...
So when I ran across this little book by Dan Bolin called "How to Be Your Daughter's Daddy" , I enjoyed wondering how things will be in the future between my husband & my daughter if he implements some of these tips.
Here are some of my favorite tips from the book:
- Learn the names of her dolls or stuffed animals (and give her privacy when she's talking to them)
- Kiss her mother in her presence
- Brush her hair
- Eat lunch with her at school
- Send her a flower when you are out of town
- Compliment her character and skill three times for every one compliment on her appearance
- Give up something for her (golf, television, smoking, hobbys, etc). She may not appreciate it, but it will remind you of her great worth to you.
- Write a letter to her for New Year's Day. Tell her what you've noticed about her in the last year (save each letter every year).
- Hold her when she cries...no matter how old she is.
- Call her from work when she gets home from school just to see how her day went.
What can I say, I love how much my husband loves our daughter!
