Keeping the Peace: 5 Easy Fight Diffusers

There are fights...and then there are fights.  There are silly arguments that build & fester & when neither side is willing to submit, it becomes something more than it was meant to be. Those times when even while you're arguing, you don't really know what you're mad about. I'm guilty of it. I'm sure we all are, at some point or another.

So, to hopefully decrease the number of  heated arguments you and your spouse have, Jane Jarrell from Mom Matters has come up with 5 easy fight diffusers you can use when needed:
  • Laugh with each other, especially after the issue has been resolved.
  • Establish a fighting time, so both of you can cool off & approach the topic with a level head instead of a hot head.
  • Listen to his side of the story instead of planning your next rebuttal.
  • Establish "time outs" for checkups on your relationship.  Ask simple questions like: "How are you doing?" How are you feeling about us?"
  • Seek professional counseling if the same issues resurface time and time again.
