Part 4-How Many Coupons Can You Use?

Using coupons along with a sale is the best way to maximize your savings & get the amazing deals you hear so many people talk about. When I first started couponing, I admit I was often confused and overwhelmed when it came time to check out...I would get confused about how many coupons I could actually use on each item. To hopefully make it easier & less confusing for you, here is a breakdown of how many of each type of coupon can be used...

What is allowed:
  • When buying 1 item, you are allowed to use 1 manuf coupon & 1 store coupon together
  • When buying items included in a B1G1 sale, some stores allow you to use 2 manuf coupons & 2 store coupons (some stores will say you can’t use a coupon on the free item but that is rare-check your store's coupon policy to be sure)
  • On a B1G1 sale, you are allowed to use a B1G1 coupon & get both items FREE
  • When buying 2 products & using a B1G1 coupon, you are also allowed to use a $ off coupon on the item that you are actually paying (ex: coupon says “Buy 1 deodorant & get 1 body wash free”. You are allowed to use a $ off coupon on the deodorant since the B1G1 free coupon doesn't say you have to pay full price for that deodorant. However, you can not use a B1G1 coupon along with a $/2 coupon because the $/2 coupon attaches to both products.)
  • When buying multiples of the same product, you can use multiple coupons even if they say “one per purchase” (don’t allow cashiers to tell you otherwise). Each item you are buying is considered a purchase. However, 1 per transaction means you must ring them up in separate orders.
Don't forget:
  1. You can only use ONE manuf coupon per item.
  2. You can only use ONE store coupon per item. (the only difference I have found is my Publix allows me to use 1 Publix coupon, 1 competitor's coupon AND 1 manufac. coupon, but this will depend on your store's policy)
It is important to always coupon with integrity...it can already frustrate many cashiers who aren't familiar with coupons & their store's policy, so I feel it is important to always be honest when using coupons. It would be a shame to fraudulently use coupons & ruin the experience for everyone else trying to stretch their family's budgets.
